Smokers as with all people never really think about bad things especially bad things relating to your health. Everyone knows smoking is the most dangerous disease ever created by mankind. In fact, smoking has killed multiple times more than all of the wars since wars began – combined.
All of the wars, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq there have been about 7000 soldiers killed. Did you know that there will be an estimated 443,000 people in the U.S. will die this year as a direct result of smoking. Yet, it is still regarded in many states as acceptable. It is acceptable to allow 443,000 United States citizens to DIE every year from smoking. Amazing huh?
So why do people still smoke. Several reasons really. They are not in touch or have not been bombarded with messages to stop smoking. In the past year I have not noticed one single commercial or comment by CNN. It is my favorite news channel to watch so I watch it often. Not once did I see any mention of it. So it is easy for people to forget about it and they do forget. It is put in back of their minds. If it was front row and center it would be much better. Exposure to the disease is one of the best cures of a disease.
Interview a person dying of lung cancer. See what he says about it now. Another option is to interview a person who has lost both lower legs and now has congestive heart disease as result of smoking. That person could be me. In fact, it is me and I’m positive I am not the only one.
So the bottom line is the efforts of the media is pitiful. No one is getting to the dirt of smoking. It is outrageous that it is not front row and center of the health debate. For gosh sakes, don’t you realize the number of deaths caused by smoking. Yet it is rarely even mentioned in the press or TV or even the Internet. No one is pushing this very hard. They should be all over this. Remember 443, 000 U.S. citizens killed prematurely each and every year. Amazing how it is being be overlooked.
There are other reasons – Why You Continue to Smoke Despite the Warnings? But it will wait for another article . Remember exposure very important.
